Paris Court: Marine Le Pen declared ineligible: guilty of fraud involving 2.9 million in EU funds
Marine Le Pen and eight MEPs from her party have been found guilty of embezzlement of public funds by a Paris court. The leader of the Rassemblement National was sentenced to five years of ineligibility with immediate effect, a decision that effectively bars her from the presidential elections scheduled for 2027. She also received four years in prison, two of which were suspended and two years with an electronic bracelet. Le Pen and the other defendants, all sentenced to ineligibility, were accused of using money intended for European Union parliamentary assistants to pay staff working for the party
